CHAPTER III
ADJUSTMENTS TO ORGANIZATIONAL REFORM WITHIN THE SECRETARIAT
The adjustments and reforms to the Organizations structure and machinery
in the Charter inevitably resulted in administrative changes particularly, within
the General Secretariat. Several internal adjustments were made over the years
to complement legislative decisions and mandates in the continuing discharge
of the Secretariats work. A policy landmark in respect of administrative
adjustments was the report and recommendations of the Committee of 1968, which
was charged by the member states to advise on the reform of public administration
and finance of the Organization. The Committees recommendations led to
a revised structure of the entire Secretariat. Other important changes have
taken place since 1968. Major changes in more recent times have involved
the political, economic, trade, and legal and administrative areas of the Secretariats
operations.
